Open Your Toys Cast - Episode 080: I am sick of writing these things…

Have you ever just gotten so sick of doing something you dread doing it. For some it might be yard work. For others unfortunately it’s their job. For me it’s these posts. For the most part I actually like writing about what I’m thinking. However, more often than not lately the show has taken too long to get it out, the show itself is much longer than I would like and I’m just ready to be done with it. Then I have to write this. As much as I like writing, I just want it done.

So let’s get it done. Perhaps the biggest news, literally, is the MOTUC Castle Grayskull. The thing is massive and we’re creeping up towards the minimum. If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, do so NOW. G.I. Joe actually had some news this time around. Hasbro announced Kre-O is finally repping Joe-style. Most of it looks pretty bad, but there are a few pieces I can’t wait for. So everyone knows this is a thing. I’m excited about the game, but I could care less about the toys. Finally, I’m so happy to see that we’ll be getting the GDO G1 Deco ROTF/HFTD Leader Starscream. Man that’s a mouth full.

Hello guys, thank you for yet another great show!

Seem like Transformers is taking a turn into Beast style robot, which means I can take a break from spending money on Transformers (not into Beast anything). Now if only 3rd parties would take a short break, then my wallet would be super thankful.

I’m sure you guys heard about Disney purchased Lucasfilm. We would love to hear your opinion about this acquisition. Also the announcement of episode 7 in 2015 and the future outcome of the Star Wars toy line.

Checkout how I mix my toy lines together. The MP-10 is like my mini-playset on my computer desk:

On another topic but still toy related, I walked in TRU yesterday and was curious as to what type of product toy company trying to get parents to buy for their “daughter.” I noticed the girl’s toy isle are bigger then boy’s section. I also noticed that girls get a bigger selection of big playhouses/playsets for their 10-12″ dolls compare to boy getting playlets. Correct me if I’m wrong… I thought the cost of plastic is up? How come there are so many big playlets for girls? A typical 2.5~3 feet tall doll house cost at around $129 in TRU and the BMF cost $250 and the MTT cost $180. To me, this really doesn’t make any sense, what’s your take? Start shopping for a playset for you little one before price goes up even more in the future. :)

Lastly, I read that selling girl toys are more profitable then toys for boys. Girls toys significantly outperformed the growth in boys by 17% from year over year. Is this a surprise to both of you? Does Mrs. McFavorite had any girl toy lines she collect and would like to discuss with us in the next show?

P.S. Slick, I didn’t mean to throw you under the bus with that Encore Fortress Maximus question, So sorry~ LoL I didn’t think you pre-ordered. Take your wife to beautiful dinner night out.

I’m with you, not a big “beast” guy either. I’ll probably cop a few (I always do),

We’ll definitely be kicking the buyout around. Jesica is a huge Disney fan. I can’t wait to hear what she thinks. We haven’t talked about it too much, kinda saving it for the show.

I love how the Fighter Pods look right at home on your MP-10.

    Great questions for the show.

No worries about Fort Max. I had mentioned it to her a few times, she just either blocks it out or is truly not listening. When I ship that beast, she’ll definitely have something special coming to her.

    Talk to you soon brotha…Slick
