It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, not the holidays, the sales. Oh my god, there have been so many sales. And, they have been amazing this year. From the now standard Hasbro Pulse 35% off sale, Target’s $25 off a hundy, to Walmart blowing out its exclusives. If you’ve been following my JOMO exploits, it’s helped me save a ton of money, but I haven’t spent any less. In fact, I’ve spent more than ever this year. So what does that say about collecting? Basically, it means it’s oversaturated. These companies know people are spending. How long can it last? Is our hobby headed the way of the Beanie Baby?
Talk about over-saturating the market. Transformers are coming fast and furious, but the Missing Links can’t come fast enough for me. New Classified is coming too fast in my opinion, but Slice and Dice are welcome additions. While traditional Origins has been relegated to Mattel Creations exclusives, they have found a new niche, concept figures. What’s the easiest way to tell we’re getting too much product? Four words, Shadows of the Empire.
