I am so happy that Toy Fair is back. Not a virtual or later-in-the-year one, but an actual Toy Fair! There were tons of new toys to get excited about from all four franchises. However, there was nothing I couldn’t live without. Is it progress on my addiction or simply burnout? Stuff will still go on the JOMO list as I wait for it to go on sale. I might even chase some things as they start to disappear from the primary market. Completionism drives a lot of it. When I first started collecting there was such a sense of accomplishment. Now, it seems most purchases come with a dose of the reality of how much I have already and a dash of guilt for how much it takes up. Is this journey almost over?
Something I would have snatched up in a second in the olden days is the Classified SDCC Cold Slither set. It comes from my favorite media, the cartoons, and is super goofy. It’s an easy pass nowadays. With all the Transformers stuff shown, my favorite thing is an actual toy, not a collectible. I’m excited to see the Cyberworld Scorponok in person. Masters came out guns blazing. While I should love the Fright Zone, I just don’t. I’m more drawn to the New Eternia Terror Claws Skeletor. Not surprisingly, Star Wars was the least exciting. At least we’re getting new unproduced vintage figures.
Will the fun ever start…Slick
